Nancy Wilson, a jazz singer and three-time Grammy Award winner was born in Ohio, Chillicothe on 20 February 1937 to Olden Wilson, an ironworker. had been employed for a considerable time as a housekeeper. Nancy Wilson was youngest baby of six. The music passion of her father as well as the music he played at home were a huge influence on Nancy at the age of a girl. When she was just four an age, she was certain that she was going to be a star in the singing world. The talent she developed was cultivated due to her participation in the choir at church. Cannonball adderley encouraged her to go into New York in order to improve her career. She went to The Big Town, New York in the year 1959. Within a couple of weeks, Adderley's manager was impressed by her voice and hired her. She made her recording debut in 1960 by releasing the single "Girls" after she signed an agreement with Capitol records. Guess Who? Capitol issued five Nancy Wilson albums within two years. Adderley encouraged her to shift away from R&B in favor of jazz and torch song. The 1962 group collaboration of Nancy Wilson and Cannonball Adderley was instrumental in propelling her to prominence and her breakthrough smash Tell Me the Truth in 1963. It led her to perform in New York's Coconut Grove the premier night club in America that year, and she quickly became a legend.
